Mr. Michio Torii, the former President of JMA, took the initiative in the foundation of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation (APMF) in 1991, and served as the APMF’s first presidency for two consecutive terms until 1995. APMF's main goals are to promote international cooperation among Asian marketing institutions in the areas of growth and education and to exchange personnel, marketing technologies and information while fostering friendships among member organizations.
In 1994, under the leadership of the Marketing Institute of Singapore, APMF started Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) in Asia Pacific, the only program in Asia that certifies professional marketers with Asian perspectives and practical experience.

In 1996, JMA President Michio Torii was designated "APMF Honorary Founding President" for his dedication to the establishment and development of APMF.

JMA Asia arketing Executive Conference
The Japan Marketing Association hosted the Asia Marketing Executive Conference at the Keidanren Hall on February 26, 2008. The conference invited top marketing executives from China, Korea, Hong Kong and India, and discussed the future of greater Asian market and successful marketing strategies in this dynamically changing region.
JMA World Marketing Conference"Marketing2001:Toward Creation and Innovation"
JThe Japan Marketing Association hosted the World Marketing Conference at the Tokyo International Forum on April 13 and 14, 1998. Most of the discussions focused on new problems of business and marketing, and the conference investigated current marketing methodologies in search for a new paradigm in this multi-valued society
Marketing Study Tours
Overseas Marketing Study Tours provide valuable opportunities for participants to expose themselves to international marketing experiences. This variety of tours include the "Executive Seminar Tour," the "International Study Tour for Female Marketers", and the "International Conference Tour." JMA also organizes study tours to rapidly growing Asian countries and regions.
International Marketing Seminors
JMA invites globally active scholars and business persons to provide opportunities for marketers to learn about international problems and to foster their global perspectives.
 
JMA Marketing Academy
 
offers three different courses, a "Basic Course " and “Executive Marketing Course”, each of which suits the specific needs of marketers. The "Basic Course" is an intensive training course, comprehensively covering knowledge necessary in marketing and the skills essential for new marketers. The "Executive Marketing Course" trains marketing executives. The purposes of the course are to deepen practical and theoretical knowledge and to foster insights in problem-solving.
 
Marketing Certification Program (JMA Marketing Master Cousse)
 
JMA Marketing Master Course endows professional marketers with valid qualifications. This intensive course consists of 220 sessions during a nine month period. Marketers with both business and academic experiences prepare curriculums and instruct sessions. Students also work on a master’s thesis, and, upon completion, receive a Marketing Master, certified by JMA. The course covers four categories: marketing strategies, the product, the consumer and marketing communication. Students master advanced marketing skills and knowledge.
 
Marketing R&D Project Workshops
 
As business environments change overnight, creative strategies are essential in today's marketing. JMA organizes study groups to keep abreast of new challenges in marketing. These groups focus on such topics as e-marketing, mobile marketing, marketing science, generation analysis, etc.
 
Marketing Researches and Prposals
 
The JMA Marketing Research Committee conducts basic research and JMA members can access reports on this research. JMA also provides research information and proposals to marketers.
 
JMA Monthly Luncheon
 
JMA invites speakers from a variety of backgrounds to give their perspectives on the latest topics.
 
JMA Publications
 
The Japan Marketing Association publishes periodicals for the benefits of JMA members. "JMA Marketing Journal" is a quarterly academic research magazine edited by marketing scholars. "JMA Marketing Horizon" is a monthly marketing news periodical edited by experienced JMA practitioners. All publications are printed in Japanese.
 
 

Kansai chapter

 

Education Programs

 
The "Marketing Mind Basic Course" provides an opportunity for JMA Kansai members to learn basic skills and gain knowledge in marketing. The "Power-up Seminar" focuses on marketing research, marketing strategies and product development. "Project Research" studies topical issues and conducts research.
 
Exchange Program and other Activities
 
The Kansai Chapter holds monthly gatherings which promote communication among its members and where they can build friendships. The chapter also organizes a biannual marketing symposium. "Asia Study Tour" provides participants with first-hand observation of lively Asian business situations.
 
 

Kyushu chapter

 

The Kyushu Chapter was established in May, 1988. This chapter promotes communication among JMA members and local industries.

The Kyushu Chapter offers four education programs, "Basic Academy", "Marketing Research Meetings", "Planning Skills Development Seminar", and "Executive Management Seminar" for every level of marketers. Marketing Seminars select problems on distribution and consumption in hope that these seminars will generate activity among local businesses.

Since its foundation in 1990, the Hokkaido Chapter has endeavored to promote local industries through its marketing programs.

The Japan Marketing Association (JMA) was established in October 1957, independent of the Japan Productivity Center, with an aim to develop and disseminate marketing knowledge and technologies in Japan. Since then, the Association has committed to improving the practice of marketing and widening its application to corporate management throughout the nation.
Mr. Toyonobu Domen of Ajinomoto Co., Inc., assumed the first JMA presidency, and established the foundation of JMA by launching various activities. In 1968, Mr. Tokujiro Hosoi of Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd., was appointed the second JMA president, and in the following year, Mr. Hideharu Tamaru of Dentsu was named as JMA Director General. The two leaders made great contributions to the development of the association. Mr. Michio Torii of Suntory Ltd. became the third JMA president in 1973. He restructured the organization and launched a series of innovative programs in order to fulfil the diversified needs of JMA members. From September 2007, Mr. Takuya Goto of Kao Corp. assumes the new JMA presidency.
The Japan Marketing Association celebrated its 50th anniversary in October 2007 and will endeavor to develop and disseminate marketing technologies and knowledge for the benefit of both marketers and consumers.
